When you are on that ethereal plane before appearing in that new world you need to choose answers non related with love, feelings or relationships at all, and then you need to lie to Silas so he doesn't give you that ride.
this is a great game so far i see nothing wrong and my fav so far is Qrom the dragonkin I don't know what it is about him I like he just seems like a lade back guy and I guess that's why I like him. But all in all this is a great game can't wait for the update
Not sure yet. I've got half of day 3 done for both the Mage and Fighter majors. I still have to finish the other half and the full day 3s for the other three majors. I haven't had a whole lot of time to work on it lately so it's been slower going than usual. I want to say I hope before the end of May, but we'll see.

No bother at all :) The major you choose will affect the character you spend most time with in the beginning, but it won't restrict who you can romance. The main affect the major will have on the story is different dialogue changes.
So now that there's a guide and it's easier to purposefully get stats, I've got a couple of questions about them:
I acknowledge that it's still early and there hasn't been much of a chance for it, but what do each of the stats mean? (i.e. is it the same as d&d stats or do they have different meanings here)
I see that the mental stats are used a bit for dialogue checks, and I assume the physical ones will be the same, but will some majors benefit more from a stat than others (i.e. healers using wisdom for healing, rogues use dexterity for stealth, that kind of thing) and if so, could we know which ones?
They are very similar to D&D. Each stat will have dialog affects, but they will also affect your performance in your majors as well. Day 3 once released will give a bit more information on how the courses work and you'll be trying to balance grades, relationships and other aspects as the game progresses. The majority of this mechanic won't be seen very early on, but will have an affect that lasts throughout the playthrough.
Also, some stats may play an unexpected role in some majors depending on your score in them, for instance, if you were in the mage major and had both a high intelligence and high strength or something like that it may unlock different options later down the road. However, the main stats that will affect your courses in the major are as below:
Fighter - Strength
Mage - Intelligence
Holy Arts - Wisdom
Guardian - Charisma
Rogue - Dexterity
I don't intend for there to be extremes that only min/maxers can attain, but people are creative and enjoy building characters in different ways so there may be some that try to attain a "perfect" score.
I do, it's just an icon on the main page near the bottom. It's mostly just a "tip jar" since I can't promise monthly updates, but I do plan on updating the tiers soon to add early access and other perks.

Between all the assignments and studying, I FINALLY got a chance to play through Aldric's route, and... I might've found a new favorite. I really love his route so far and I cannot wait to see more of him.
Just wanna ask if it's normal when the MC and Silas get inside the academy, the screen is just black but theres still dialogues tho and music. Theres just no background when they got inside the academy? Is it normal?? Im playing the android version btw. Thanks. And I love your game! Cant wait for the next update!
This VN is fabulous! The art, the music, the scenes, the transitions, the infinite fan of options, twists and outcomes! The dialogues are really smart. And... since I'm a 'patterns and combinations freak' almost reaching OCD (almost), I've spent all my weekend trying to figure out how stats assignment work. By now I've found some interesting patterns, which I'm not going to discuss here but... There's only one thing I really wish to know (if possible without spoiling): "What's the max number of stat points we can have (aside from our basic 10 for each attribute) before we get out PAL? I got a maximum of 18 so far (a couple which I don't feel too proud of, and might even be counterproductive for some routes).
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it so far! Currently the stat you can get highest is charisma with a maximum of an additional 12 points for a score of 22. While trying to max that out, you can get other stats as well, but not many, 6 spread across. So with your 18, I believe you did achieve the maximum currently available in the game. The majority of stats will come later in the game as you make choices in your courses and other aspects of your new life in the game. Though, min/maxing stats won't be easy and sometimes, depending on your goals, it's not the best option either so you will need to choose wisely.

Just be cool, easy going, laid back, friendly, joke everytime you get the chance and be bold. That's what I did like everytime except for Aldric's route. I suspect being bold and buffoon might not be so good for Orion's route though, but I can't really tell.
That did seem to work as long as I had met Aldric, but if I meet Aldric, I already know my major before I meet Qrom, which means I don't need to wait for him. As far as I can determine, anyway.
Is it still possible to date all the canine main characters even though you are in one major in the future updates? If not, then welp I guess then I just have to reset back to day 1 in to get all routes completed hahaha
My goal is to not restrict who you can romance based on major. Depending on your major, you'll have more opportunities to spend time with one character over another in the beginning, but if you wanted to be a mage and romance Orion, you'd have opportunities. If you mean date them all at the same time, then I don't know about that lol.

I noticed if you eat in the Cafeteria alone that Orion almost comes and joins you. Is there currently a path that gets him to join you or is it not yet implemented?

In order to get to his route, you need to have low charisma and lie to Silas. To achieve this, don't choose "love", "a lover" or "friends" and then lie to Silas when you first meet him. If he refuses to give you a ride then you are on the right track. 🙂
Sorry, might sound like stupid questions, but did you make sure to download the v 0.1.2 and also, did you load an old save or did you start a new game?
I'm not very familiar with Mac, but it sounds like Ren'Py may somehow be pulling from old save data even though you're starting a new game. I can only provide examples from a PC version, but Mac should be similar, just different file paths.
From what I can find online, you'll need to delete the save files in the game folder:
After you delete the saves from that folder, you'll want to find the When Stars Fall game directory in the RenPy folder since Ren'Py also creates it's own separate folder for saves from all the Ren'Py games you have.
From what I could find online for Mac it should be located in this generic area unless you saved it special when downloading:
game_directory is actually the name of the game you are looking for so:
Once you've deleted the saves from both locations, then you can start the game and it should all be reset, You should be able to get the new content. If it doesn't work, then I would repeat the steps above and uninstall/reinstall the game. If that stilldoesn't work then let me know and I can try reaching out to some other VN devs to see what insights they may have regarding the issue.
After going through Aldric's route, I think I might've found a bug where none of the characters appear in the Contacts. I went until the very end of the game and they still weren't there.
Yes, it is a bug. I forgot to put the correct flags for the screen. I'm working on fixing it though it may not be corrected till next update because the screen doesn't play a major role just yet aside from giving you an idea on your relationships with the characters.

Also, the issue with the contacts is due to me forgetting to include the correct flags. It should be fixed in the next update. Since the screen hasn't played a major role in the game yet aside from letting you see the affection points, I'm not considering it a game breaking error to rush a patch out for.
Everybody be talking about how they met Aldric and how much they love him and I'm over here like "??? There's a new character?" Did I miss something? How do I meet Aldric?
At the very beginning, when speaking to the blue orb, don’t chose the options “Love,” “A lover,” or “Friends,” and your charisma will be lower than if you choose them. Then, once you meet Silas, lie about why you’re there, and your low charisma will ensure he doesn’t offer to give you a ride, lest he be late to getting to the academy. After he leaves you, you’ll begin making your way to the academy on your own. That’s when you meet Aldric.
It's not obvious on how you meet him. In later updates you will meet him on either route you start, however I hadn't yet implemented him into the Silas route. In order to get on his route you need to lie to Silas and have a charisma of 10 (the lowest you can have). In order to make sure you have the right charisma, don't choose "love", "a lover" or "friends". If Silas doesn't offer you a ride then you're on the right track.
I think I'm a bit confused what exactly affects your stats and in what way? I know your character creation is not finished yet, but since apparently your stats affect the currently available routes, there must be some way to set or change them. But I'm not sure what that way is.
Your choices in the beginning and throughout the game affect them so far. I do have plans to allow players to manually adjust their stats in the future after earning unassigned ones in some way. Currently the ones that affect your stats the most in the beginning are during the intro when you are making choices with the orb. I'm working on getting some sort of guide together for the things choices affect so stay tuned.
I was really looking forward to an update and it finally came, it was worth the wait and more because we met Aldric and I think he became my favorite character, he is quite cheerful and very friendly, I wish to spend more time with him. And the music gallery was a great implementation, as I said a long time ago, the music on this Vn is amazing. Regardless of the time that passes for the next update, I will wait for that day. A great job.
I just finished playing through all the routes available, and I gotta say, Alderic is actually competing with Qrom for number 1 spot of my favorites 😄 he's such a charming and sweet doggo that deserves all the love in the world. I'm also starting to like Reth too thanks to the new update that gave us a bit more of his story! All in all a short, but exciting update that is always welcome! I'm so excited and eagerly waiting for day 3 and hopefully day 4 in the next one ;w;

With this update I mostly wanted to focus on making sure all of the characters were introduced and that the story had a firm enough start for future content which is why it was a bit short. Plus with all the errors I was running into and my IRL job taking up a lot of time, I didn't want to keep everyone waiting even longer for an update. 😁
Currently you get the most content with him when you get a ride from him at the beginning (Either by telling the truth or lying to him with a higher charisma score). In future updates you'll spend more time with him by choosing the Mage courses, but that won't restrict you from romancing him or spending time with him later.

None of the characters really have much of a path yet. It's mostly just introducing them all so far. But yes, he will be a romance option.

I'm glad you're enjoying it so far and finding characters you like! I will look into the MC's reactions to make sure they seem plausible and align more with the situation and update as needed, thank you for that feedback :).
Also, the issue with the contacts is due to me forgetting to include the correct flags. It should be fixed in the next update. Since the screen hasn't played a major role in the game yet aside from letting you see the affection points, I'm not considering it a game breaking error to rush a patch out for.
Everybody be talking about how they met Aldric and how much they love him and I'm over here like "??? There's a new character?" Did I miss something? How do I meet Aldric?
At the very beginning, when speaking to the blue orb, don’t chose the options “Love,” “A lover,” or “Friends,” and your charisma will be lower than if you choose them. Then, once you meet Silas, lie about why you’re there, and your low charisma will ensure he doesn’t offer to give you a ride, lest he be late to getting to the academy. After he leaves you, you’ll begin making your way to the academy on your own. That’s when you meet Aldric.
It's not obvious on how you meet him. In later updates you will meet him on either route you start, however I hadn't yet implemented him into the Silas route. In order to get on his route you need to lie to Silas and have a charisma of 10 (the lowest you can have). In order to make sure you have the right charisma, don't choose "love", "a lover" or "friends". If Silas doesn't offer you a ride then you're on the right track.
I think I'm a bit confused what exactly affects your stats and in what way? I know your character creation is not finished yet, but since apparently your stats affect the currently available routes, there must be some way to set or change them. But I'm not sure what that way is.
Your choices in the beginning and throughout the game affect them so far. I do have plans to allow players to manually adjust their stats in the future after earning unassigned ones in some way. Currently the ones that affect your stats the most in the beginning are during the intro when you are making choices with the orb. I'm working on getting some sort of guide together for the things choices affect so stay tuned.

Hahahaha possibly. I've been debating about a multiple lover route or something like that, but haven't yet decided if I will indeed or not.
I was really looking forward to an update and it finally came, it was worth the wait and more because we met Aldric and I think he became my favorite character, he is quite cheerful and very friendly, I wish to spend more time with him. And the music gallery was a great implementation, as I said a long time ago, the music on this Vn is amazing. Regardless of the time that passes for the next update, I will wait for that day. A great job.

I just finished playing through all the routes available, and I gotta say, Alderic is actually competing with Qrom for number 1 spot of my favorites 😄 he's such a charming and sweet doggo that deserves all the love in the world. I'm also starting to like Reth too thanks to the new update that gave us a bit more of his story! All in all a short, but exciting update that is always welcome! I'm so excited and eagerly waiting for day 3 and hopefully day 4 in the next one ;w;

With this update I mostly wanted to focus on making sure all of the characters were introduced and that the story had a firm enough start for future content which is why it was a bit short. Plus with all the errors I was running into and my IRL job taking up a lot of time, I didn't want to keep everyone waiting even longer for an update. 😁
How am I supposed to pick Silas route?
Currently you get the most content with him when you get a ride from him at the beginning (Either by telling the truth or lying to him with a higher charisma score). In future updates you'll spend more time with him by choosing the Mage courses, but that won't restrict you from romancing him or spending time with him later.
