My goal is to not restrict who you can romance based on major. Depending on your major, you'll have more opportunities to spend time with one character over another in the beginning, but if you wanted to be a mage and romance Orion, you'd have opportunities. If you mean date them all at the same time, then I don't know about that lol.

I noticed if you eat in the Cafeteria alone that Orion almost comes and joins you. Is there currently a path that gets him to join you or is it not yet implemented?

In order to get to his route, you need to have low charisma and lie to Silas. To achieve this, don't choose "love", "a lover" or "friends" and then lie to Silas when you first meet him. If he refuses to give you a ride then you are on the right track. 🙂
Sorry, might sound like stupid questions, but did you make sure to download the v 0.1.2 and also, did you load an old save or did you start a new game?
I'm not very familiar with Mac, but it sounds like Ren'Py may somehow be pulling from old save data even though you're starting a new game. I can only provide examples from a PC version, but Mac should be similar, just different file paths.
From what I can find online, you'll need to delete the save files in the game folder:
After you delete the saves from that folder, you'll want to find the When Stars Fall game directory in the RenPy folder since Ren'Py also creates it's own separate folder for saves from all the Ren'Py games you have.
From what I could find online for Mac it should be located in this generic area unless you saved it special when downloading:
game_directory is actually the name of the game you are looking for so:
Once you've deleted the saves from both locations, then you can start the game and it should all be reset, You should be able to get the new content. If it doesn't work, then I would repeat the steps above and uninstall/reinstall the game. If that stilldoesn't work then let me know and I can try reaching out to some other VN devs to see what insights they may have regarding the issue.
After going through Aldric's route, I think I might've found a bug where none of the characters appear in the Contacts. I went until the very end of the game and they still weren't there.
Yes, it is a bug. I forgot to put the correct flags for the screen. I'm working on fixing it though it may not be corrected till next update because the screen doesn't play a major role just yet aside from giving you an idea on your relationships with the characters.

Also, the issue with the contacts is due to me forgetting to include the correct flags. It should be fixed in the next update. Everybody be talking about how they met Aldric and how much they love him and I'm over here like "??? There's a new character?" Did I miss something? How do I meet Aldric?
At the very beginning, when speaking to the blue orb, don’t chose the options “Love,” “A lover,” or “Friends,” and your charisma will be lower than if you choose them. Then, once you meet Silas, lie about why you’re there, and your low charisma will ensure he doesn’t offer to give you a ride, lest he be late to getting to the academy. After he leaves you, you’ll begin making your way to the academy on your own. That’s when you meet Aldric.
It's not obvious on how you meet him. In later updates you will meet him on either route you start, however I hadn't yet implemented him into the Silas route. In order to get on his route you need to lie to Silas and have a charisma of 10 (the lowest you can have). In order to make sure you have the right charisma, don't choose "love", "a lover" or "friends". If Silas doesn't offer you a ride then you're on the right track.
I think I'm a bit confused what exactly affects your stats and in what way? I know your character creation is not finished yet, but since apparently your stats affect the currently available routes, there must be some way to set or change them. But I'm not sure what that way is.
Your choices in the beginning and throughout the game affect them so far. I do have plans to allow players to manually adjust their stats in the future after earning unassigned ones in some way. Currently the ones that affect your stats the most in the beginning are during the intro when you are making choices with the orb. I'm working on getting some sort of guide together for the things choices affect so stay tuned.
I was really looking forward to an update and it finally came, it was worth the wait and more because we met Aldric and I think he became my favorite character, he is quite cheerful and very friendly, I wish to spend more time with him. And the music gallery was a great implementation, as I said a long time ago, the music on this Vn is amazing. Regardless of the time that passes for the next update, I will wait for that day. A great job.
I just finished playing through all the routes available, and I gotta say, Alderic is actually competing with Qrom for number 1 spot of my favorites 😄 he's such a charming and sweet doggo that deserves all the love in the world. I'm also starting to like Reth too thanks to the new update that gave us a bit more of his story! All in all a short, but exciting update that is always welcome! I'm so excited and eagerly waiting for day 3 and hopefully day 4 in the next one ;w;

With this update I mostly wanted to focus on making sure all of the characters were introduced and that the story had a firm enough start for future content which is why it was a bit short. Plus with all the errors I was running into and my IRL job taking up a lot of time, I didn't want to keep everyone waiting even longer for an update. 😁
Currently you get the most content with him when you get a ride from him at the beginning (Either by telling the truth or lying to him with a higher charisma score). In future updates you'll spend more time with him by choosing the Mage courses, but that won't restrict you from romancing him or spending time with him later.
Hey i just fin it and it was good hpoe the new update will be even epic and magicaly especialy my master as a support healing everyone and need mana to refresh but still this game is nice and where i can rate this i could rate this 5/5 start if me
I'm glad that we got an update! You did a great job introducing Aldric, he's great and might've taken over first place on my favorites list. Interested in seeing how we meet him aside from the current way! Honestly, him alone has given me quite the predicament as to what major to pick, mage or holy arts as I love him and mages/magic classes and Silas.
Luckily the plan is to not have your major dictate who you can romance. It is more for other story content and will affect who you spend more time with in the beginning.
OK, so, here's something interesting- not so much of an error as an oddity. I was playing through all the routes, as they are, and I noticed that- at least for me- Qrom talked about how he was showering, and might take a while to get back to the dorms. Then, all of the sudden, he's leading the MC to his dorm, as though time just skipped in the blink of an eye. Is this perhaps unfinished writing?
Yep (one of my favorite paths), but there still should be some dialog between him saying he's showering and taking the mc to his room whether or not you go the path you mentioned 🙂

Yes, I did. (Ngl, this is the first I’ve heard of the option to not ride with Silas- seemed like the only way to get to the academy) I was on Qrom’s better side by that time. I read the ‘invite’ text, and then it just carried on to walking down the hall.
Thank you. The not riding with Silas is new to this update. Everything seems like it should be right, but I will keep investigating. I've been getting a few comments saying people can't find day 2 as well, so something might be missing. A couple more questions:
With the 'invite' text, do you have the options pop up to accept his offer or refuse?
When it seems to skip, does it just go from - "Ah, I guess it was a little too hopeful to think he'd wait around here for me to finish registering." to "My new dorm wasn't too far from where we started and Qrom stopped in front of a dark wooden door with a bronze plate that had the number '15' etched into it."?
Also, if you are able to get some screenshots of the portion where it's messing up that can help as well.

1. It's possible people are confusing Day 2 with a second day at the Academy. (Day 3 (Perhaps not- I haven't had such an issue.))
2. The options do not appear. He makes the suggestion, and that's the end of it.
3. The three lines prior are "Or you could...", "Well that's very forward.", and "That just seems to be his personality..." And then the following line is "My new dorm wasn't..."

4. Another thing, I know that in past versions, Qrom was one of the contacts. Has this been removed for the current version?
5. Don't worry about it. Just as any new game, there will be errors, whether they're something minor like a failure to load a background, or something major like deleted saves. I took this into account, just as most other players did, when they downloaded the game.
6. I do apologize for not submitting the error through the correct forms (Didn't see the text in the game description until just now.)
7. Suggestion. Perhaps add the option to decline Silas' offer to hitch a ride to the academy, in addition to the charisma check, so that players don't have to only follow the current guidelines, which you kind of have to accidentally stumble on. Take me for example, I wouldn't have known about it unless I read through the comments on this page. And, considering this is a gay, furry VN, the majority of people will choose either "Love", "A Lover", or "A friend" for their first route, and some won't play a second until the game is completed, if ever. As I said, just a suggestion. If it stays as it currently is, it will be like a secret route that's not super secret.

Also, to answer 4. Yes, after some changes I forgot to add the correct flag needed to show his contact after you meet him. Since the screen doesn't have too huge of a role just yet I'm not too worried about rushing out a fix for it until I have more fixes with it or a full update. For instance, if there is a decent chunk of story that should be in there and isn't that's something I'll need to make a patch for as soon as I can.
Also, no worries about not submitting through the form. The majority of reports I get are through the comments and it's a bit better that way anyway since everyone can see them and either add to it or just be warned about it.
I believe I found the issue. At that point when you reach the dialog, if you pull up your PAL screen and look at your charisma it should beless than 16.
If it is, then that explains why you didn't get the choice to accept the offer or not. If it's 16 or higher and you're still getting it... then I may go bald pulling out my hair for this one lol. Also, as it so happens, that's the one particular outcome of that whole branch that I indeed did neglect to put the additional text between messaging him and waiting for him to finish to get you to your room. Based on where it is in the code, that's been an issue since the original release and never got caught 🤣. Or at the very least, didn't get mentioned to me.
The only thing you're missing with this section you hit is:
"I put my PAL in my pocket and then slid to the floor with my back against the wall and waited for Qrom to finish."
"About twenty minutes later Qrom came into view at the end of the hallway."

So as it is, if you do check and your charisma is lower than 16 then I would just consider this a "typo" error which will no longer be there next update or added to a patch if there are any game breaking errors.
Umm this migh be rude for me to say to you so when i sleep at the dorm all over? I mean last update i had an error the i cant make the other day at the dorm when i close my eye but you said its update i check it and boom there still there (not the error) im still stuck on that time when im taking naps at the dorm is that the end of your update?
And i saw the comment that they met the new character and i havent even i choose mage/priest (maybe) but still ended up there in the dorm and exited on the main menu
Currently the game is supposed to end when you go to sleep in your dorm room at the end of day 2. The error from before was because it was trying to pull day 3 which was not in the game. I fixed that so now it should be sending you to an afterword where the "dev" is talking and then you will go to the main menu.
The new character can be met when Silas doesn't give you a ride at the beginning. To achieve this, your charisma score must be no higher than 10. Basically during the orb questions, don't choose "love", "lover" or "friends" and you should be put onto the new content path.

In order to make the game, I use a program called Ren'py which allows me to use coding to add all of the text and images for the characters and places. If you don't know anything about coding when starting out (like I did) it can be intimidating at first, but stick with it and you'll learn and be able to create a story for people to enjoy. 😊
Its finally here! Well, sort of. You can choose it, like all of the other classes, but like all of the other classes, there won't be any content specific to it until days 3+ are in the game
Thanks! I think I had the same error this morning. Went to sleep the night before the first day of mage classes and the game crashed. Rollback couldn't get back to the game so I just stopped.
Yea, it's likely the one everyone is getting. I accidentally left in some code that tried to call the next day of the game which hasn't been added yet. The error happens at the end of the demo though so you didn't miss anything. I'm also glad you're enjoying it so far.

I did figure it out though so I'm able to move forward still without as much hassle. I know it's been quite a long time without an update. I'm likely going to focus on getting the new character into the story instead of trying to do that and write new portions for the other characters. I'm still debating what I will do, but I'll post an update blog about it in the next few days when I've decided.

Yea, sorry about that, I left them unclickable because I didn't have the assets available at the point of the demo release for the main characters of those routes. When I released the android version I did make them clickable, but didn't want to push out an update to the PC and Mac versions just for that. The next update that I'm working on will have all of the classes available. :)
This is an error the only happened on the android version due to me accidentally leaving a line of code in that tried to call the next day which wasn't finished yet. The demo was supposed to end there anyway, so you haven't missed any content. The healer class will be available in the next update, whenever I can get it finished :) Hopefully it won't be too much longer.
As far as I know, the saves are stored in a separate renpy folder somewhere on your hardrive so any time you load up the game it should pull from that folder so if you were to download the newest version, it should still pull from the saves in the renpy folder (if you are playing on android, I'm not as familiar with the save system storage there, but should be relatively similar).
Though, the first few updates to the game will require you to restart the game from the beginning because of how adding variable and assets to earlier portions work. Once the game is further along, you should be able to play the game starting from a save file without issue.
Thank you again, i just asked, bc i played Far Beyond The World and i had to uninstall the gane from android to install the updated one. :D There were some games what stored the save files like dawn chorus.
Hopefully the android updates don't need to be uninstalled and reinstalled, but I honestly don't know unfortunately. Ren'py and android aren't the most easily compatible so things can get weird.
Haha hopefully soon. The error I had gotten before took a while to fix and then I was waiting on assets. Now it's just a matter of getting time outside of my normal job to actually work on it. If all goes well, this weekend I should be able to work on the project and get a large portion finished and be ready to post hopefully before the end of this month. :)

Yep (one of my favorite paths), but there still should be some dialog between him saying he's showering and taking the mc to his room whether or not you go the path you mentioned 🙂

Yes, I did. (Ngl, this is the first I’ve heard of the option to not ride with Silas- seemed like the only way to get to the academy) I was on Qrom’s better side by that time. I read the ‘invite’ text, and then it just carried on to walking down the hall.
Thank you. The not riding with Silas is new to this update. Everything seems like it should be right, but I will keep investigating. I've been getting a few comments saying people can't find day 2 as well, so something might be missing. A couple more questions:
With the 'invite' text, do you have the options pop up to accept his offer or refuse?
When it seems to skip, does it just go from - "Ah, I guess it was a little too hopeful to think he'd wait around here for me to finish registering." to "My new dorm wasn't too far from where we started and Qrom stopped in front of a dark wooden door with a bronze plate that had the number '15' etched into it."?
Also, if you are able to get some screenshots of the portion where it's messing up that can help as well.

1. It's possible people are confusing Day 2 with a second day at the Academy. (Day 3 (Perhaps not- I haven't had such an issue.))
2. The options do not appear. He makes the suggestion, and that's the end of it.
3. The three lines prior are "Or you could...", "Well that's very forward.", and "That just seems to be his personality..." And then the following line is "My new dorm wasn't..."

4. Another thing, I know that in past versions, Qrom was one of the contacts. Has this been removed for the current version?
5. Don't worry about it. Just as any new game, there will be errors, whether they're something minor like a failure to load a background, or something major like deleted saves. I took this into account, just as most other players did, when they downloaded the game.

7. Suggestion. Perhaps add the option to decline Silas' offer to hitch a ride to the academy, in addition to the charisma check, so that players don't have to only follow the current guidelines, which you kind of have to accidentally stumble on. Take me for example, I wouldn't have known about it unless I read through the comments on this page. And, considering this is a gay, furry VN, the majority of people will choose either "Love", "A Lover", or "A friend" for their first route, and some won't play a second until the game is completed, if ever. As I said, just a suggestion. If it stays as it currently is, it will be like a secret route that's not super secret.
Thank you so much! This helps a lot. I will keep looking into it to see if I can replicate/locate exactly where the error in the code is. As for the day 2, that's what I was thinking as well, but I'm still always a little worried when someone says they may have had that big of an error lol.
Also, to answer 4. Yes, after some changes I forgot to add the correct flag needed to show his contact after you meet him. Since the screen doesn't have too huge of a role just yet I'm not too worried about rushing out a fix for it until I have more fixes with it or a full update. For instance, if there is a decent chunk of story that should be in there and isn't that's something I'll need to make a patch for as soon as I can.
Also, no worries about not submitting through the form. The majority of reports I get are through the comments and it's a bit better that way anyway since everyone can see them and either add to it or just be warned about it.
I believe I found the issue. At that point when you reach the dialog, if you pull up your PAL screen and look at your charisma it should be less than 16.
If it is, then that explains why you didn't get the choice to accept the offer or not. If it's 16 or higher and you're still getting it... then I may go bald pulling out my hair for this one lol. Also, as it so happens, that's the one particular outcome of that whole branch that I indeed did neglect to put the additional text between messaging him and waiting for him to finish to get you to your room. Based on where it is in the code, that's been an issue since the original release and never got caught 🤣. Or at the very least, didn't get mentioned to me.
The only thing you're missing with this section you hit is:
"I put my PAL in my pocket and then slid to the floor with my back against the wall and waited for Qrom to finish."
"About twenty minutes later Qrom came into view at the end of the hallway."

So as it is, if you do check and your charisma is lower than 16 then I would just consider this a "typo" error which will no longer be there next update or added to a patch if there are any game breaking errors.

Umm this migh be rude for me to say to you so when i sleep at the dorm all over? I mean last update i had an error the i cant make the other day at the dorm when i close my eye but you said its update i check it and boom there still there (not the error) im still stuck on that time when im taking naps at the dorm is that the end of your update?
And i saw the comment that they met the new character and i havent even i choose mage/priest (maybe) but still ended up there in the dorm and exited on the main menu
Currently the game is supposed to end when you go to sleep in your dorm room at the end of day 2. The error from before was because it was trying to pull day 3 which was not in the game. I fixed that so now it should be sending you to an afterword where the "dev" is talking and then you will go to the main menu.
The new character can be met when Silas doesn't give you a ride at the beginning. To achieve this, your charisma score must be no higher than 10. Basically during the orb questions, don't choose "love", "lover" or "friends" and you should be put onto the new content path.

In order to make the game, I use a program called Ren'py which allows me to use coding to add all of the text and images for the characters and places. If you don't know anything about coding when starting out (like I did) it can be intimidating at first, but stick with it and you'll learn and be able to create a story for people to enjoy. 😊

Thanks! I think I had the same error this morning. Went to sleep the night before the first day of mage classes and the game crashed. Rollback couldn't get back to the game so I just stopped.

Yea, it's likely the one everyone is getting. I accidentally left in some code that tried to call the next day of the game which hasn't been added yet. The error happens at the end of the demo though so you didn't miss anything. I'm also glad you're enjoying it so far.

I did figure it out though so I'm able to move forward still without as much hassle. I know it's been quite a long time without an update. I'm likely going to focus on getting the new character into the story instead of trying to do that and write new portions for the other characters. I'm still debating what I will do, but I'll post an update blog about it in the next few days when I've decided.

Yea, sorry about that, I left them unclickable because I didn't have the assets available at the point of the demo release for the main characters of those routes. When I released the android version I did make them clickable, but didn't want to push out an update to the PC and Mac versions just for that. The next update that I'm working on will have all of the classes available. :)

This is an error the only happened on the android version due to me accidentally leaving a line of code in that tried to call the next day which wasn't finished yet. The demo was supposed to end there anyway, so you haven't missed any content. The healer class will be available in the next update, whenever I can get it finished :) Hopefully it won't be too much longer.

As far as I know, the saves are stored in a separate renpy folder somewhere on your hardrive so any time you load up the game it should pull from that folder so if you were to download the newest version, it should still pull from the saves in the renpy folder (if you are playing on android, I'm not as familiar with the save system storage there, but should be relatively similar).
Though, the first few updates to the game will require you to restart the game from the beginning because of how adding variable and assets to earlier portions work. Once the game is further along, you should be able to play the game starting from a save file without issue.
Thank you again, i just asked, bc i played Far Beyond The World and i had to uninstall the gane from android to install the updated one. :D There were some games what stored the save files like dawn chorus.
Hopefully the android updates don't need to be uninstalled and reinstalled, but I honestly don't know unfortunately. Ren'py and android aren't the most easily compatible so things can get weird.

Haha hopefully soon. The error I had gotten before took a while to fix and then I was waiting on assets. Now it's just a matter of getting time outside of my normal job to actually work on it. If all goes well, this weekend I should be able to work on the project and get a large portion finished and be ready to post hopefully before the end of this month. :)
